D.B. Troester began to write What Color Is the Wind? in Western New York in 1994. He completed the book in Utah in 2005. It was published by David Brian Books in Salt Lake City in 2006.

More than 1,600 copies have been distributed in Utah, where it sells in independent and mainstream bookstores. Online sales have reached readers nationwide.

What Color Is the Wind? is a compilation of true stories and gentle vignettes, touching on life’s sweetest joys and universal experiences. The book offers insights into sorrow, hope, life, death, laughter and love in an easy-to-read, thought-provoking manner. 

Troester is a native of Western New York where he grew up in Niagara County, roaming vast forests and trails along the banks of the Erie Canal. He now resides in a cottage on the banks of the Jordan River in Salt Lake City.
